Global Outreach Day

The G.O.D. (Global Outreach Day) is a movement in the body of Christ to fulfill the Great Commission in our generation.  The focus is to mobilize individuals who are actively sharing their faith.  The aim is to see the WHOLE church – every single believer – stepping into divine action to reach the lost.

Click here to find out how to join in this opportunity on May 30, 2015.  We are believing for a revolutionary change in the culture and thinking of the global body of Christ concerning practical evangelism.

The JESUS Film Project will be providing free resources through The Jesus Film Media App for you to use.  Be sure to download the app and stay tuned for a special announcement.

Starting with One

JESUS Film God Christianity Vasil*, a Bulgarian Christian, knew it would take a loving work of God to transform the lives of people living in a distant village—many of whom were Turkish speaking Gypsies. Although from a Muslim background, Vasil committed his life to Christ and his spiritual passion grew rapidly. He attended a conference about leading people to faith in Christ and establishing the new believers in churches that would then reach out and plant other churches.

In 2013, Vasil and three other volunteers working with JESUS Film first showed Magdalena in Turkish to about 100 people in this one remote village. Next, a local family opened their home for those who wanted to meet and learn more about the God of the Bible. Soon about 30 villagers were attending this home church, many of them now devoted to Jesus.

One of the families asked for Vasil and his team to help start another church nearer their home. Again the team showed Magdalena, and an interested group of people began to meet as a new church, led by one of the team members. Numerous baptisms followed.

Because of Vasil’s initial tenacity to believe God was leading him to take the gospel to one specific village, he and his team helped establish seven churches in the community, with plans to eventually minister to the entire region.

Since 2010, the JESUS Film staff and about 250 volunteers have used the ministry’s evangelistic films and discipleship tools to plant 127 new churches throughout this region of Southeast Europe.

JESUS in Iran

06-02Aafiya* cringed at the brutal murder unfolding before her eyes. Tears of sympathy escaped as she watched the stranger on television breathe his last. Instantly, Aafiya felt a hand on her shoulder. Not just a light tap, but a calming pressure. Too scared to turn around, Aafiya immediately sensed the presence of Jesus—the man on TV. Somehow this Son of God no longer felt like a stranger.

Aafiya was watching the JESUS film in her heart language, Farsi, via Mohabat TV, the satellite station—named after the Persian word for God’s agape love—that  broadcasts the gospel into North Africa, Europe, the Middle East, and the Arabian Peninsula. Mike Ansari, director of operations for Mohabat TV, recalled Aafiya’s comment to a call-in counselor after watching JESUS and inviting Christ to be her personal Savior: “Why can’t people see that Jesus died for all of us? I’ve got to go tell.”

“Go and tell” the gospel is at the heart of the mission of Mohabat TV and The JESUS Film Project®, who is adapting its Jesus Film Media™ mobile app into Farsi for the station and others ministering to Farsi speakers. Mohabat’s regular programming includes the broadcasts of JESUS, Magdalena and Rivka films.

“We’ve never seen anything like this. It’s going beyond politics, religion and cultural borders,” Ansari said. “… When we air the JESUS film, immediately there’s a connection, it is a supernatural connection.”

After moving to California from Iran, Ansari and other members of his Muslim family responded to the gospel through a JESUS film they received from a local church. Ansari’s mother had a dream about heaven and was told she’d receive an important white envelope containing something that would change her life. A few hours later while attending her first church service, Mrs. Ansari responded to the altar call and surprisingly received a white envelope. Inside? A Bible and a copy of JESUS.

Today people with no knowledge of Jesus Christ are coming to faith through means such as dreams and visions, websites, short films, social media, and mobile apps. Specifically the Jesus Film Media mobile app allows people to view and download JESUS—in more than 1,200 languages—as well as other evangelistic and discipleship films directly to their cellphones. Soon the Jesus Film Media technology team will release a new version of the app for viewing on tablets and iPads.

“Everybody is a global missionary now because of the Jesus Film Media app …. It’s super simple,” explained Mark Mayers, a JESUS Film® development regional manager. “… We are offering partners … everything we have on our digital platform, for free. It’s astoundingly exponential in terms of their ability to offer access to the gospel through their spheres of influence.”

The Jesus Film Media platform makes it easy to view and share the ministry’s more than 75,000 videos. The JESUS film itself is divided into 61 two-minute clips, perfect for a mobile ministry and engaging others in spiritual conversations. Nifer Sims, the mobile and web product manager of Jesus Film Media, sees more and more creativity from ministries and groups as they tap into the digital film library to “allow their apps and websites to wear the cultural clothes of the people they are reaching.”

In one area of the world that is extremely hostile to Christianity, a ministry leader recently stated that while large showings of JESUS are impossible, the use of  cellphones and tablets have “… made ministry now easy.”

Technology provides new and relevant ways to personally connect people with Christ as Savior—no matter where they live. Even if at first, He is merely a stranger on a TV, computer or cellphone screen.

Carmen and Rivka

During a recent recording session in Colombia for the dubbing of Rivka into Spanish, a woman named Carmen (see photo) was being recorded. She was the voice of Rivka, the main character in the series, first seen in the film Magdalena.

During the many sessions, tears would come to Carmen’s eyes. She would pause, and say, “Oh, these words are just beautiful.” The entire process took two weeks. Near the end of the project, Carmen opened up about her life. Three months earlier her husband had left her for an old high school girlfriend. She had been crying every day since, and was deeply hurt. She felt worthless and was angry inside.

On the last day of recording, as she left the studio, Carmen asked if she could keep the script. Her eyes again filled with tears as she flipped through the pages. She went to the prayer of Rivka, where in the script Rivka asked forgiveness for her anger at her husband. Carmen showed the staff how she had written in the name of her husband who had left her, saying, “As we were recording those words of the prayer, I was praying for myself. This is truth, and I am changed. I am loved and beautiful because of who I am inside.”

Pray with us that millions of women will find that they are loved and beautiful inside, because of Jesus.

It’s Just the Beginning

Lights - SquareWhile some predicted the world would end according to the Mayan calendar on December 21, 2012, no one could predict the enthusiastic response of the Mayan people to the gospel two months later. In February 2013, a team of JESUS Film® ministry partners from the United States traveled to Mexico’s Yucatan Peninsula for the premiere showing of Magdalena: Released From Shame in the Mayan language.

Hundreds of people including pastors, students, villagers, and others watched Magdalena. Many viewers prayed to receive Christ as Savior. The team also showed the Mayan version of The Story of Jesus for Children. In one village, nearly 260 people watched the film and some 250 of them indicated they accepted Christ. “We gave out DVDs to families so they can watch the story of Jesus over and over. They can then share it with their friends and family,” trip participant Leah Richardson explained.

Along with a local Mayan church team and two other ministries—Message for Mayans and Feet That Move—the Americans also went door-to-door to distribute 240 pairs of new Croc-style shoes and washed the feet of the leader of each household. The Message for Mayans and local churches will continue to use both films for evangelism and follow-up. Now for the more than 700 new Mayan believers, instead of the world ending, their new lives in Christ are just beginning.

Central African Republic: “Walking With Jesus”

“Walking With Jesus”A Campus Crusade staff member in the Central African Republic attended the baptisms of a group of people who came to faith through the Sango JESUS film. The next day he started to show the French Walking With Jesus as a part of the early discipleship process for these new believers.  For those for whom French was difficult to understand, someone translated the dialogue from the film into Sango on the spot. The people were so hungry for the teaching found in Walking With Jesus that after the fifth episode finished, they asked to watch the series again! Through this church’s weekly showings of the Sango JESUS film in conjunction with Walking With Jesus, six churches already have been planted in this region.

Light for the Darkness

update photoIn an Eastern India village, traditionally a haven for militant rebels, the villagers live cut off from the rest of society—no electricity, no safe running water, no medical facility, and no news of Jesus. But in 2011 a JESUS Film church-planting team found their way to the isolated village and, through use of the film, ignited the faith of the people to truly understand that the Son of God came to the world for them, too.

The first Christ-follower in this village was a hardened guerrilla fighter. “Now he is not only a believer in Christ, but God is using him to lead a Bible study group with 10 new believers from his village,” an area leader reported. “Through the ministry of these church planters now there are three Bible study groups with 27 baptized members and many seekers of the Lord.”

With the help of the church planters, this once-anarchist village has extended the gospel to two nearby communities and is praying for opportunities to evangelize, disciple and plant churches in four more neighboring villages. As roads are built to these outlying areas, the Campus Crusade ministry Global Aid Network® in Australia is planning to install solar panels on every home in the villages, helping bring light for their path and the Light of the World for their hearts.

Showing JESUS Around the World

Showing-JESUS“After watching this movie, many people from my community came [to] faith.  This movie was a great gift for us,” shared Prakash, an Asian pastor, after watching a new version of the “JESUS” film. Following several early showings of the film, the feedback from believers was overwhelmingly positive. One pastor shared that members of his community expressed amazement that the film was in their heart language. Immediately, they wanted to know more about Christ. Another believer noted that many of the people in his community held their own ideas of who Jesus was, but this film finally showed them the truth. Also, the excitement of some people watching the film, now able to understand the gospel on a deeper level, propelled them into their communities with a renewed desire to share their faith because they finally found a tool they felt confident using.

35 Years of Miracles

35 Years of The JESUS Film

As we celebrate 35 years of “JESUS,” of amazing progress toward fulfilling the Great Commission, we are acutely aware that this is your ministry. For these 35 years are built on a firm foundation—your intercession and faith, your encouragement and giving.  A journey that started in the 1950s, when Dr. Bright first began thinking of a film on the life of Christ that would be totally faithful to Scripture, based on the Word of God.  The result is a tool used by the Holy Spirit. As Franklin Graham, president of Samaritan’s Purse has graciously said, “I think the ‘JESUS’ film is one of the great tools for evangelism. This single project has been probably one of the most effective in getting the ear and the hearts of a lost world.” For helping to make this all possible, thank you.  This is your history.

Tigers and Bears Share the Gospel

Tigers and BearsDo animals talk? Yes! And some even share the story of Jesus. Thanks to an innovative audio tool called the Wildlife STORYTELLER, vulnerable and victimized people hear about the peace and security found in Jesus through the comfort of a stuffed animal.

Resulting from a partnership between the JESUS Film™, Global Recordings Network, MegaVoice© and Simply the Story, each Wildlife STORYTELLER consists of a stuffed animal with a pocket holding a MegaVoice audio player. The MegaVoice usually contains the audio adaptation of the JESUS film or The Story of Jesus for Children and other Bible stories in the recipient’s heart language.

Susan, the visionary behind the partnership, describes the effect the Wildlife STORYTELLER had on a disabled boy in Guatemala: “The second the child felt the tiger’s soft fur, his face lit right up. When he pushed the little audio button, the tiger began to tell him a Bible story—in his own language.”

In South Asia, Latha, a child bride whose husband sold her into prostitution more than 11 years ago, faced daily abuse. One morning Christian aid workers found Latha badly beaten lying beside a road in the rain. They quickly took her to the hospital along with a bag of supplies— including a Wildlife STORYTELLER bear.

Day and night, Latha clung to her bear and listened to the stories about Jesus—including the audio adaptation of the JESUS film in her heart language. By the end of her stay, everyone in the ward knew the stories. A nonbelieving doctor remarked that the presence of prayer and truth in that dark place changed the lives of everyone at the hospital.

Good work, Mr. Tiger and Mr. Bear!
